Mapping Your Way To Global Action

There are several thousand verses in the Bible about the poor and God’s response to injustice. God’s passionate concern for those in need, the voiceless, the vulnerable and the oppressed, is a theme that runs throughout the Scriptures, along with God’s call for His followers to actively care for those who are in need.

We believe this call is for every believer, and that we must turn our attention to it in specific and intentional ways. It is our desire to move from the random to the strategic, and to develop a creative and comprehensive plan to pursue this call of God in every way He leads us to do so. Imagine all of us together reaching people in an unprecedented way with the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ, in practical and meaningful approaches that truly demonstrate that the message of God’s love is real.

Key Scriptures

  • Isaiah 1:17 – “Learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.”
  • Isaiah 58:6-9 – “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loosen the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter – when you see the naked to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then you will call and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help and he will say: Here am I.”
  • Matthew 7:12 – Jesus told his followers, “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.”
  • Matthew 25:34-45 – Jesus said, “I was hungry and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me… Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me… Whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.”
  • Luke 10:25-37 – “Which of these three do you think was a neighbour to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?” The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”

“Spiritually healthy and dynamic churches… have learned to equip the whole community of faith to do the things that matter to God… Sharing faith and caring for people are fundamental callings for the lives of all those who seek to follow Christ. Healthy churches equip all members to share their faith and to love needy people. Likewise, the work of justice is no less fundamental for every Christian.” -Gary Haugen, Just Courage
